Music bands have always been very popular among listeners. There have been many great bands who have enthralled audiences for a long time. Bands like The Beatles and Rolling Stones are very popular among listeners even today. Music bands are very abundant nowadays. When bands like Coldplay and U2 started slowing down, new bands like Maroon 5 and One Republic stepped up their game. There has never been any shortage of popular bands. Nowadays, Fun, One Direction and The Wanted are really popular among the masses. I decided to compile a list of the most popular bands in 2013. The bands in the list are arranged according to the fan base, the type of audiences, the music etc. Following are the Top 10 Popular Bands:

One Direction is a new British band of young teen boys. The band had unprecedented success last year after releasing many hit songs. The band is extremely popular among kids. I would never have placed One Direction among some of the other legendary bands, but then I thought there must be something for the kids in this as well. So there you have it. One Direction is one of the most popular bands in 2013.
9. The Wanted
Just like One Direction, The Wanted is a new band which also became popular last year with many hits. This band is again popular among kids and teens. They have much better music than One Direction and that’s why they are on a higher rank than One Direction. The Wanted’s songs, Glad You Came and Chasing The Sun, were chart toppers.
8. U2
U2 is one of the best bands of all time. It is very popular nowadays as well. U2 has a great lineup of band members, led by the versatile, Bono. Their songs have prominently featured in many famous movies and TV shows. Very recently, the hit movie The Great Gatsby, had a cover song of U2’s Love is Blindness by Jack White. Even after the band stopped producing new music, it is very popular among listeners.
7. Fun.
Fun. is one of the most promising upcoming bands which have risen steadily over the past years. Unlike One Direction and The Wanted, this band quality music. Led by Nate Ruess, Fun. has a great lineup of musicians. Their song, We Are Young, was at the top of the charts for most part of last year. With such great success over the last year, we can only imagine better things to come from Fun.
6. Maroon 5
Maroon 5 is one of the most popular bands in the world right now. Led by Adam Levine, the band has experimented a lot in their music and has gotten success. Adam Levine has a unique voice which is one of the assets of the band. A lot of their songs have been on music charts. This is why it is one of the most popular bands right now.
5. System Of A Down
System of a Down may have retired from music but even today, it is one of the most followed bands in the world. With a rebellious tone and metallic music, the band has a huge fan base. This is one band which challenged the system and got success. This is why it is still one of the most popular bands in the world.
4. Mumford and Sons
After their phenomenal and chart-buster single I Will Wait was released, the band has taken off to a roller coaster ride. It is one of the most popular bands today. Their popularity increased further when they won the Best Album Grammy Award last year. Even in 2013, the band’s album is at top of the charts. That is why the band is ranked so high up in the list.
3. One Republic
One Republic is one of the best bands out there. Led by the amazing voice, lyrics and production of Ryan Tedder, the band only has one way to go: Up! One Republic recently came up with their new album, Native. The album is amazing and a treat for the fans. My gut feeling is that this album is going to sweep many music awards this year. With the release of the new album, the band’s popularity has risen even more.

The Beatles is one of the greatest music bands of all time. Even after so many years since their retirement, the band has remained extremely popular over the years. The Beatles is one band which will live forever. The fan base is huge and it is one of the most popular bands in the world.

The British band Coldplay is one of the most popular bands in the world. Led by Chris Martins, the band has an amazing lineup. Their most famous song, Fix You, has inspired many a people and is a favorite of many people. Coldplay is one of the best music bands of all time. Their quality of music, lyrics, vocals etc. are world class and superior than many other bands.

I have two major problems with this… Firstly, where is Linkin Park? Like, seriously, they’re even on the list! They are one of the most popular bands in recent history and have always been at least 50x more popular than System of a Down. They are also the most liked band on Facebook, with twice the fans of Maroon 5 and Coldplay. In my opinion, they should at the very least be in 2nd place. Secondly, why in the Hell are Coldplay ahead of The Beatles?

The Beatles by far are the most influential, most lyrical, and most known band in the world. They have sold over billions of albums and records (and that isn’t an assumption it is proven fact) They deserve top spot because they are so influential that they can never not be popular.
